Fabric Mills : Good Fabric Suppliers

Finding a good fabric supplier is certainly not easy.  Although we do NOT promise that the factories you will find from the below resources are "good", you will at least have the opportunity to view numerous fabric mill choices.  Our suggestion is that you contact a few of the fabric mills that appear to offer the fabric classification that you wish to have produced.  Check the actual fabric manufacturers website to see what fabric categories they list on their site (example: flannel, poplin, madras, knit jersey, 1x1 rib).  Unless you are looking for a very unique fabric, make sure to select a mill that actually lists the fabric that you are looking for on the site.  Some factories like to say "yes" to everything you ask.  Therefore, if you ask if they make flannel they will say "yes".  However, if they make flannel, why didn't they already list that fact on their website.  My suggestion is to pick a factory that thought that it was already important enough for them to list flannel.  That would possibly mean that this is an important category of production for that facility.

When reading fabric mill descriptions on directories, understand that each mill will present themselves by saying something like "we are the best", or "we are the leading", or "we are number one".  Also, some directories, will change the "we" to "they" so it sounds more like a review from the directory.  However, this is not the case.  Most likely the "we are the best" or "they are the best" statement does NOT mean they are actually the "best".  You must do your own investigation.

Here are a few places to find fabric mills to begin your research:

Fabric Mills (Apparel Search) : this is a fabric mill directory from Apparel Search.  Companies are currently listed alphabetically.  The manufacturers of fabric are not yet organized by country or fabric classification (this is something planned for the future).

Fabric Mill Directory (Apparel Search) : the fabric mill directory is also created by Apparel Search.  However, these section actually contains many different mills.  This section presents mills by the fabric category that the mill produces.

Fabric Mills USA (Apparel Search) : this is yet another directory presented by Apparel Search.  In this directory you will find listings of fabric mills from the United States.

Fabric Manufacturers (Global Sources) : They have a large directory of fabric manufacturers.  Global Sources is a leading business-to-business media company and a primary facilitator of trade with Greater China. The core business uses English-language media to facilitate trade from Greater China to the world. The other business segment utilizes Chinese-language media to enable companies to sell to, and within Greater China. The company provides sourcing information to volume buyers and integrated marketing services to suppliers. It helps a community of over 753,000 active buyers source more profitably from complex overseas supply markets. With the goal of providing the most effective ways possible to advertise, market and sell, Global Sources enables suppliers to sell to hard-to-reach buyers in over 230 countries.

Textile Products (Alibaba) : Alibaba Group is a global e-commerce leader and the largest e-commerce company in China. Since it was founded in 1999,  Alibaba Group's flagship company and the world's leading B2B e-commerce company, serving small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) in China and around the world.  On the Alibaba.com site you will find a very good resource of fabric manufacturers.

Textile Industry Directory : the textile industry directory is more of a work in progress.  Currently not as good as the directories and guides listed above.  However, the site has a good foundation and will become more beneficial over time as more fabric mills post their information to the directory.
